Following the successful experience of the Design Week of the neighboring city of Milan, Geona launched in 2019 the first edition of its Design Week Event. This was a huge success and, in 2020, we’ll have the 2nd Edition of this promising event!

And this Design Week already has its theme! Following the worldwide trend, Green will be the theme of this second edition that is scheduled from 7 to 11 May 2020. In the wake of Milan and the 2020 Edition of Salone del Mobile, which will be held from 20 to 26 April, Genoa also wants to be immersed in the panorama and to do it in the best way this year has decided to set up a Scientific Committee to promote a more professional approach to this event!
After the great success of 2019, which saw the participation of over 10,000 visitors and 4 new shutters raised in Piazza dei Giustiniani, the event organized by the DiDe – District of Design Genova, with the support of the Municipality of Genoa, Genoa Design Week will once again bring the vanguard of national and international fashion houses to the Historic Center, opening the atria of the Genoese historic buildings to the city and giving new life to the squares and alleys of the exhibition itinerary with installations of diffused green.
According to the Municipality of Genoa, this historical city will be transformed into a huge meca of Design and Nature! There are plans to adorn numerous railings of the city with flowers and are plans to install several greeneries both vertically and horizontally on bollards and shelters. The main entrances leading from Via San Lorenzo and Loading to Piazza dei Giustiniani, the fulcrum and nerve center of the district, will also be decorated.
“We are sure that the Genoese and tourists will be amazed by the originality of this event,” said Maurizio Caviglia , general secretary of the Genoa Chamber of Commerce. “The event is also a challenge launched to the world of designers, creatives, artists, designers and enthusiasts of the sector that will give new life to the vein, which is very interesting for us, of creative cultural enterprises”.
