About Salone Del Mobile Milano

The Salone Internazionale del Mobile, which began in Milan in 1961 as a vehicle for promoting Italian exports of furniture and accessories, has become the global benchmark event for the furnishing and design industries.

Exclusive Mirrors For Your Home Decor

These events, which are held under the umbrella of this Milan Furniture Fair, occupy a net area of about 210,000 square meters at the Rho Fiera Milano fairgrounds each year, presenting over 2,300 of the most innovative and creative enterprises on the global market.

The iSaloni attracts over 370,000 professional visitors each year, with just under 70% of them coming from other countries, as well as over 5,000 national and international journalists and around 27,500 members of the public over the weekend, making it the unmissable sector-wide appointment. Not to mention the accompanying activities, which are typically produced by top worldwide artists and designers, because the Salone is not only about commerce but also about culture. This is the Salone, presently in its 60th edition: an international platform with the “privilege of actuality” that illuminates the condition of the design. For years, every year.

Salone Del Mobile Milano 2022

Rho Fiera Milano, 07_12.06.2022

Salone del Mobile Milano is coming up next. It sounds like the title of a movie. We could even make a joke about it if it weren’t for the plethora of unknowns that seem to be cropping up all over the place right now. Is it truly going to happen? When? How? Who is going to be there? How many of us will there be? It’s difficult to get reliable information these days, what with all the rumors and fake news. Let’s put an end to this. A complete halt. The dates are June 7th to 12th.

The recipe is simple: it’s conventional, but it’s also fresh, refreshed, and unexpected in spots. And sure, as the iSaloni has taught us throughout the years, all of the stands reflect the soul of the brands. EuroCucina with Technology for the Kitchen and the International Bathroom Exhibition will also be held again this year. Workplace3.0 is a foregone conclusion. S.Project and SaloneSatellite will take on several identities. The businesses: 1,450 spots are completely sold out. Other countries will be present. Exhibitors from more than 30 countries have already signed up. Milan: the Salone event, which serves as a gift to and within the city. All of this has been confirmed by Maria Porro and is chronicled on our digital platform with regular updates and previews. Keep an eye out!

Salone Del Mobile Milano Exhibitions

Salone Internazionale del Mobile

The iSaloni is a space for cross-pollination and experimentation, as well as fresh chances for reflection on the world of design and design.

A showroom that has always combined commerce and culture, influencing the history of design and decor in the past, present, and future. A global marketplace for truly exceptional products with a focus on innovation. Three styles are represented at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile: Classic, which is based on the values of tradition, craftsmanship, and expertise in the art of creating classic furniture and things; The department is devoted to timeless luxury re-read in a contemporary key, with design, objects that speak of functionality, innovation, and boast a wonderful sense of style and lux. A collection of items that combines quality and technology, shaped by the ingenuity of top sectoral enterprises that have invested year after year in creative products and home furnishing solutions to grow their businesses.

The Salone Del Mobile Milano’s enormous value as an international showcase for creativity and a forum for industry professionals, with over 370,000 attendees on average each year from 188 different countries, is confirmed by a large number of exhibitors and thousands of products being unveiled for the first time.

International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition

Salone Del Mobile Milano

With a wide range of products – furnishing accessories, furniture, decorative pieces, fabrics – and styles, the show concludes the Salone Del Mobile Milano trade activities.

The International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, which began in 1989 in response to rising demand for decorative goods, has grown to become the industry’s leading event, showcasing an increasingly diverse and comprehensive selection of excellent pieces year after year, encompassing the entire home furnishing system, ranging from decorative objects to furnishing accessories and home textiles.

The nearly 370,000 people who travel to the show each year will find it packed with everything that helps to lend character and individuality to the residential spaces, thanks to more than 200 exhibitors.

The buzzwords for this event are innovative design, elegance, and trends. Accessories that can be used on their own, but when combined, help to redesign a room. Exclusive pieces in a variety of styles, from modern to classic, make houses even more inviting and ensure that they reflect the personality of the people who live there.

Workplace 3.0

Salone Del Mobile Milano

Workplace3.0 is envisioned as an indispensable think tank for learning about and comprehending forthcoming workplace transformations. It’s more than a show; it’s a springboard for generating forward-thinking ideas that can adapt to a changing market and changing demands.

With the introduction of Workplace3.0, an innovative exhibition area devoted to design and technology in workspace planning, the Salone dedicated to the workplace has confirmed its new vocation as an exploration of brand-new approaches, forms, and solutions to the workplace “of the future,” in which the human factor and smart technologies play a vital role.

The world of work, like the concept of work, is continually changing: new approaches necessitate new workspaces. Workplace3.0, a design and technology conference, is the best-equipped event to address this transformation and market demand. It features the greatest items for procurement plans, reception areas, and office spaces from the leading firms working on solutions that align with new ways of working and design requirements for “inhabiting” the workspace.

The new exhibition format debuted with the 2019 edition of Workplace3.0. The 53 exhibiting businesses created a liquid and hybrid presence throughout the fairgrounds, further emphasizing their objective to encourage creative experimentation. This new exhibition style reflects the workplace’s social change into a flexible, permeable, and dynamic space conducive to professional contact and involvement with other day-to-day activities.

S. Project

Salone Del Mobile Milano

The way we think about and manage interior space is always changing. As is the manner in which it is told. At the Salone del Mobile MilanoS. Project, new fluid and crosscutting exhibition format were unveiled.

S.Project, a crosscutting area dedicated to design items, as well as decorative and technical interior design solutions, debuted. S.Project selected, collected, and valorized manufacturers’ proposals in complete synergy with the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, The International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, Euroluce, Workplace3.0, and SaloneSatellite, providing a 360-degree perspective on interior architecture and responding to the latest market demands.

The multisectoral focus of S.Project distinguishes it as a multidimensional area with a diverse assortment of goods, with products spanning from interior to outdoor furnishing, from wellness products to fabrics, from lighting to acoustic solutions, from coverings to finishes.

S.Project aspires to be a new business-to-business platform that fosters collaboration between retailers, designers, and businesses, offering a welcoming environment and the best networking opportunities. It’s the perfect setting for demonstrating industrial excellence, fresh concepts, and innovative solutions to industry professionals as well as national and worldwide buyers.

EuroCucina / FTK – Technology For the Kitchen

Salone Del Mobile Milano

The biennial International Kitchen Furniture Exhibition, together with its companion event FTK (Technology For the Kitchen), has been the premier showcase for high-end kitchens since 1974.

The 22nd edition of EuroCucina, as well as FTK – Technology For the Kitchen, a companion event focusing on built-in household appliances and their evolution, delivered a targeted and innovative response to the growing interest in the sector.

Efficiency and evocation were the driving principles behind the exhibitions, which were displayed by 117 organizations within a 22,000-square-meter exhibition space. Kitchens have evolved from strictly functional areas to become domestic hubs, gathering places for friends and family. This resurgence of the domestic hearth creates an integrated, versatile, and professional place that never fails to elicit strong emotions.

Visitors were greeted with a wide selection of high-quality items. At EuroCucina, all of the exhibits embodied modern design, technical innovation, next-generation performance, energy efficiency, and ease of use. New shapes, colors, and materials served to distinguish the kitchen as a gathering spot for friends and family.

FTK – Technology For the Kitchen – gave an overview of the state of the art technology of built-in domestic appliances, with models, prototypes, and concepts designed by firms that place a high value on research, as usual, with 48 exhibitors over an exhibition area of 22,192 m2.

International Bathroom Exhibition

salone del mobile

The International Bathroom Exhibition, the most recent of the sectoral events held under the umbrella of the Salone del Mobile Milano, is gearing up for the 2022 edition. The trailblazers of the wellness world are finally preparing to meet in person again, four years after the last live edition, with 172 exhibitors (15% from other countries), ranging over more than 17,000 m2 of exhibition space.

“Exhibitors are finally returning to an in-person event for the 2022 Salone, where they’ll be able to welcome visitors and showcase their latest offerings. The event will spotlight product design and distribution, at last bringing together all the various players under the same roof. This has not happened since 2018. The 2020 show was canceled due to the pandemic but in 2021 Supersalone allowed us to meet again and show our products live. For obvious reasons, it could not have the strength that a traditional Salone has. But having organized it and being there was still important. Now with the 2022 edition, we hope to truly return to normal” commented Elia Vismara, President of Assobagno.

The companies, too, are all raring for a chance to get together again and experience in person how bathrooms have evolved over the last few years, with the focus firmly on sustainability.

SaloneSatellite

Salone Del Mobile Milano

The international design festival for those under the age of 35. The goal of SaloneSatellite is to strengthen the links between research, design, and industry. It seeks to facilitate the contact between businesses and young designers preparing to enter the profession and the market post-study. It is open to designers under the age of 35.

SaloneSatellite also features work from design-focused universities and schools. This involvement is geared toward staying current with how the educational system is changing around design, what priorities are indicated to students and research processes, and how students’ intellectual and practical abilities are stimulated, resulting in their understanding of the problems and consequences of certain production methods. The SaloneSatellite Award, which began in 2010, is another way to bring young designers and entrepreneurs together.

Kenneth Cobonpue

Kenneth Cobonpue presents its nature with a technological soul at the Salone del Mobile Milano 2022. Hall 10 – Stand F04

Drawing inspiration from nature, observing it, experiencing it, and then interpreting it with creativity and avant-garde spirit. Kenneth Cobonpue, a designer who imbues each collection with a completely new vision of his homeland, the Philippines, decided for the Salone del Mobile Milano 2022 to give a technological soul to the harmonious shapes of the environment: the soft and sinuous lines and natural materials typical of Kenneth Cobonpue’s furniture will combine with the softness of velvet and the lightness of carbon fiber, brand-new products that will premiere at the Salone del Mobile Milano in June.

Matriz International

At the Salone del Mobile Milano 2022, the innovations of Matrix International speak the language of architecture: formal synthesis achieved through technological innovation.
At Hall 14 – Stand B29 the collection “EXPERIENCE” was designed by Danilo Fedeli.

Matrix International presents itself at Salone del Mobile Milano 2022, after years of absence, with the Experience collection, designed by Danilo Fedeli, the result of research not only for a specific style but for solutions that respect the environment. Modular sofas, armchairs, sideboards, tables, chairs, and coffee tables form an ensemble for the living and dining area where the idea of coordinated furnishings on a purely aesthetic basis is replaced by a radical design path of analysis of the idea of contemporary beauty with the goal of evolving it towards the real needs of our daily life: values such as the implied durability of the highest quality determine upstream to revise the production cycle and downstream to think about a virtuous life of the product that can be disassembled and recycled.

Marioni

Mythos is the new upholstery system designed by La Récrèation-Piero Angelo Orecchioni Arch. for Marioni. Sofas and seats with pure, almost archaic shapes, where each element is autonomous with the possibility of being composed and decomposed according to functional and aesthetic needs related to the new living requirements. Each element can be equipped with a small stand or a lamp that with a simple plug-in system is inserted at the side.

Entirely Made in Italy, Mythos has a wooden structure and padding in multi-density polyurethane foam, completely covered in fabric available in several colors. Mythos is part of the rich Notorious collection which with its particular proposals projects us into a Hollywood atmosphere where charm and elegance are naturally intertwined with beauty. A line of furnishings where the use of exclusive and sophisticated finishes is synonymous with refinement and a strong personality.

Carpet Edition

The Floor Is Lava by Carpet Edition, designed by PLACéE, this new collection of rugs depicts the magnificence of volcanic explosion! The power of volcanoes inspired the new The Floor Is Lava rugs from Carpet Edition, an exclusive collection designed by PLACéE, design editor of experimental and refined pieces, in open dialogue with art and culture. Six pieces with non-conventional shapes, bichromatic and interpreted in a pop style, interpret the reaction and transformation of terrains after the volcanic force explodes in a chaotic river of magma and lava. The Floor Is Lava is a metamorphosis of the ground which deforms and shapes itself with the slow passage of incandescent lava over it. The texture of the rugs seems to melt from the extreme heat, creating a design with a melted effect reproduced through decomposed and shaped lines.

ClassiCon

ClassiCon presents the new Corker series designed by Herzog & de Meuron, a piece of furniture made of cork that can be used as a stool or side table, as well as the Matéria lowboard series designed by Christian Haas in 2021, which features a supple surface made of open-pored travertine and wood. There are also product extensions by i.a. Guilherme Torres and Sebastian Herkner.

Scarabeo

Teorema 2.0 Plus By Design Giovanni Calisti

TEOREMA is the timeless washbasin collection designed for Scarabeo by Giovanni Calisti. Its evolution over the years has created an incredible range of multiple shapes that are suitable to satisfy every type of need. The line is characterized by rigor, elegance, and simplicity and has maintained the same design over time. The 2.0 version represents the first evolution of TEOREMA with lightened edges of only 6 mm. TEOREMA 2.0 also comes in a PLUS version with larger dimensions and reduced height.

The proposal includes six new washbasins with a slimmer design, but with a greater projection from the wall for more comfortable use. The new TEOREMA 2.0 PLUS washbasins are 53 cm deep and 12 cm high. With these dimensions and with the drain moved to the wall side, the collection is “barrier-free” and is certified as a suitable product for disabled users.

DIVA 2022

The DIVA collection is a very elegant proposal for bathroom furnishings designed by Scarabeo to complete and enrich the eclectic collection of Moon washbasins. Once again, the range surprisingly comprises new original finishes with polychromatic combinations of ceramic, structure, and accessories.

Characterized by a tubular metal structure, DIVA can accommodate the large variety of Moon washbasins with character and personality. The Moon washbasins stand out for the pleasant contrast between the width of the bowl and the lightness of the edges, creating a combination of perfectly harmonic shapes.

Already available in three color finishes – matt Black, Gray, and Dove-Gray – today the DIVA structure is also available in a refined brushed gold finish, which transmits strong emotions dictated by a regal, yet elegantly contemporary style.

Explore the City

This is the basis of what you can expect from ISaloni 2022, but Milan has a lot more to offer. You can enjoy these events, but you should also enjoy the city and that’s why we want you to present a complete Milan City Guide for your enjoyment!

TWENTY At Palazzo Serbelloni

TWENTY, an exhibition celebrating 20 years of design and innovation will be hosted at Palazzo Serbelloni, a neoclassical palace where Sotheby’s – the world’s largest marketplace for art and luxury – has its Milan galleries and offices. The event will focus on innovation and materiality with 20 unseen creations on display.

Visitors will be invited to explore a thoughtfully curated selection of designs: some inspired by Tom Dixon’s most recognized collections such as MIRROR BALL, MELT, and FAT, some upgraded, and some in embryonic experiment-mode, providing a reflective yet future-thinking overview of Tom’s prolific portfolio and journey to becoming one of Britain’s most celebrated designers.

‘You will find us tucked away in a historic palazzo in the center of Milan where the British auction institution Sotheby’s has its Italian headquarters. There could not have been a better platform to show TWENTY objects that explain some of the history, some of the processes of manufacture but also some of the new developments that describe the future of the brand. All of this coincides with Sotheby’s first Italian design sale, where the central position of Milan as the global capital for creativity is reaffirmed.’

Top Design Districts

Brera Design District

This is the district that houses a Pinacoteca and art Academy famed throughout the world. This artsy neighborhood with its narrow, cobbled streets boasting a dense concentration of antique shops, galleries, showrooms, and prestigious locations, exudes a truly alluring, bohemian aura year-round. During the Fuorisalone, Brera offers a high-profile events calendar, featuring several of the world’s most prestigious brands, and focuses on attracting a design-savvy, culturally oriented public. Brera Design District is a territorial marketing project promoting excellence and commercial real estate development.

Ventura Centrale Design District

The formerly abandoned 9 spaces of the Magazzini Raccordati via Ferrante Aporti, once home to important local warehouses, provide visitors with a visually evocative experience. Under the rough tracks and characteristic vaults of Milan’s Stazione Centrale creativity – a specific focus on design from the Netherlands and Belgium – takes center stage featuring an eclectic mix of contemporary design by showcasing both emerging as well as established brands. Projects in the area are curated and powered by the international design organization Ventura together with the local association Centrale District, spread over the core areas of Centrale Railway Station and the nearby area of Repubblica. It has been announced that for the 2019 edition of the Fuorisalone, Ventura Projects and Grandi Stazioni have joined forces to devote the spaces of Magazzini Raccordati, within the Centrale District, to the world of fashion. This means, a whole year featuring fashion parades, exhibitions, cultural events, and shootings.

Ventura Future Design District

salone del mobile

Ventura Future is an exhibition area highlighting the original, cutting-edge, and impactful design, of both emerging talents and established brands.

Tortona Design District

Although Tortona is the name of a single street, during the Fuorisalone the events in its neighboring area – namely the one lying behind the Navigli, known for its “vibey” atmosphere – multiply. The area, home to former warehouses and factories, becomes a major display platform featuring a slew of futuristic, original, and experimental events targeted, according to the organizers, at creating a truly knockout effect. Big names and loads of emerging talents create an urban workshop of contemporary design. Design Week in Tortona promotes various events spread over some of the most important hotels and recently renowned open spaces. It’s at Tortona that we find the SUPERSTUDIO, the iconic place of design in Milan, the pioneer of the Fuorisalone phenomenon in the district, the most visited and sought-after place in the Tortona District since 2000. With the SUPER DESIGN SHOW project, according to the original format “less fair and more museum”, Superstudio pursues its mission of quality, excellence, and research. The next edition of Gisella Borioli‘s project with the art director Giulio Cappellini follows the usual ONLY THE BEST mission with particular attention to the TECH&GREEN theme.

5 Vie Art Design District

Aptly named 5vie after the “five streets” that form the area, the district is simultaneously one of the city’s oldest but also emerging districts. The area spans from the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, up to the Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio and the church of San Satiro, where Bramante worked. One of Milan’s least touristy and best-kept secrets, the area participates officially in Design Week with a triple circuit consisting of showrooms displaying the latest in design, old artisan workshops where you can admire traditional handicrafts (in particular in via San Maurillio and via Santa Marta) and a cultural itinerary featuring museums, churches, cloisters, archaeological sites, and breathtaking inner courtyards. 5vie District involves a cultural and territorial marketing project to promote Milan’s Old Town.

Park deluxe executive king rooms feature fruit baskets and your choice of mineral waters, while a Park terrace suite boasts gorgeous views of Milan from a private terrace. You’ll never go hungry with mouth-watering, on-site dining options like Michelin-starred Restaurant VUN, where you can enjoy a multicourse tasting menu unlike any you’ve ever tried. For breakfast, La Cupola features daily selections of croissants and fresh juices.

PALAZZO PARIGI HOTEL AND GRAND SPA – From the outside, Palazzo Parigi Hotel & Grand Spa looks like any of Milan’s modern office buildings — glassy windows, metal frame, business style. Just take a deep breath and walk inside. If the magnificent Murano glass chandelier doesn’t blow your mind, then the “I wanna wear a ballgown and traipse down this luscious marble staircase” will. Palazzo Parigi is neoclassical luxe with a French twist throughout its ten floors. Its vibe is cosmopolitan and stylish, shown off by its staff, a well-heeled team of polyglots straight from the runway. Location is key: Turn the corner, and you’re in the Fashion Quadrangle, the very epicenter of Milan’s finest.

Top Galleries & Museums to Visit

GALLERIA CARLA SOZZANI – The gallery is located in a former industrial building, typical of Milanese architecture. Since its opening, Galleria Carla Sozzani has established itself as one of the most important photography galleries in Italy. Over 200 exhibitions have been shown in the presence of famous photographers, often presenting works that had never been shown in Italy before: Helmut Newton, Annie Leibovitz, Bruce Weber, Bert Stern, Sarah Moon, Paolo Roversi, David Bailey, Hiro, David LaChapelle, amongst others.

PAC – PAC’s exhibitions are often a source of interest and debate in Milan because they highlight issues of great social importance (for example Regina José Galindo’s 2014 “Estoy Viva” show addressed the female condition, while the 2013 “Rise and Fall of Apartheid” exhibition gave insight into life before, during and after apartheid).

MUSEO DEL NOVECENTO – The Museo del Novecento was established on 6 December 2010 with the goal of spreading knowledge of 20th-century art and offering a more comprehensive insight into the collections that the city of Milan has inherited over time. Besides its core exhibition activity, the Museum is active in the conservation, investigation, and promotion of 20th-century Italian cultural and artistic heritage with the final aim of reaching an ever wider audience.

HANGAR BICOCCA – If you love art, design, and getting out of the city center, you’ll love Hangar Bicocca. Housed in a converted industrial building in an up-and-coming area outside the city center, Hangar Bicocca attracts artsy types with its cutting-edge exhibitions and workshops. This place is famous for its site-specific installations (similar to those at London’s Tate Modern) that over the years have included giant balloons and rooms set at -30 °C.

MUDEC – In line with constant efforts on the part of the municipal authorities to preserve the memory of the economic and social processes that have shaped the city’s identity, the Milan City Council took steps in 1990 to buy the old Ansaldo industrial plant at Porta Genova and use it for cultural services. The disused factories, and authentic monuments of industrial archaeology, have been converted into studios, workshops, and new creative spaces.

Top Attractions

You can’t visit Milan without visiting the Duomo di Milano. It’s like visiting Paris without going to the Eiffel Tour or the Sacre Coeur. Is hard not to know anything about Duomo di Milano, not only because it’s the fourth largest cathedral in the world, but mainly because it’s Milan’s main tourist and cultural attraction. Even though it was started in the 14th century, the final touches were made during the reign of Napoleon. Through the centuries this church has been the scene of countless social cultural and religious events. The Duomo is a place of history, religion, art, and Italian power. If you prefer to do some shopping, but still want to visit a historic place, then why not mix both in the same place? If you want to do that, then you can visit the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. It’s one of the most popular shopping destinations as well as one of the most beautiful galleries in the world.

Besides Design Events and Luxury Hotels, Milan’s also the home to the Centuries of History. To experience Art and History, you must pay a visit to some of the hundreds of museums, cathedrals, shops, gardens, historic places, and art galleries of Milan. One of the top museums in Milan is also one of the Most Historical Buildings in the City:  The historical Castello Sforzesco. It’s in the Pinacoteca of this castle that you can find Michelangelo’s Rondanini Pieta, one of these legendary most recognized works of art!
