This book has four sections, beginning with the “Early Days”, with the birth of Giametti during World War II, going through the life changing moment when he met Valentino at Café de Paris in Rome at the time of “La Dolce Vita”. This moment defined his future and marked the beginning of a long lasting relationship.

The second section shows us “The Tribe”, where Valentino presents us the characters that make part of this history. The third section has its focus on the building and growing of the Valentino brand – the creative freedom of Valentino and the management of Giametti. There is also a special reference to the new Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum.

The final section carries us on a journey through Giammetti’s lifestyle and moments, like walking barefoot with Jackie O in Capri, dinners with Andy Warhol in New York or teaching Madonna how to ski in Gstaad.

In an interview for The Daily Beast, he talks about his friends — “The Tribe,” as he calls them. “Something that makes me very happy,” Giammetti writes, “is that our tribe has never stopped growing; we always have new energy around us… Valentino and I never lost that youthful instinct to make new friends.”  He cites friends-turned-colleagues who have been with them since the beginning — Daniela Giardina and Georgina Brandolini — close celebrity friends such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna, Anne Hathaway, and Elizabeth Taylor, and industry supporters including Anna Wintour and Diana Vreeland.
