Milan Design Week 2019: what you can see around the city

Milan Design Week 2019 is still ongoing and filling the city with more than one initiative dedicated to many areas and concepts of design. Today we’re showing you a couple of new images of numerous events that have happened or are still ongoing until the end of the week. If you’re in Italy during this period be sure to check out at least one of these top spots or events.

The Art Side of Kartell and more

Milan Design Week 2019: what you can see around the city

Probably the biggest highlight for Kartell this week is The Art Side of Kartell. This is an exhibition conceived by Ferruccio Laviani, the event’s co-curator alongside Rita Selvaggio, hosted in the Appartamento dei Principi in Milan’s Palazzo Reale. Today is the last day of the showcase so make sure not to miss it at Palazzo Reale, Piazza Del Duomo, 12, Milano.

 

You can also check out the showcase Kartell by Laufen, which consists of  the iconic style of Kartell, meeting the quality and innovation of Laufen. If you want to be mindblown by the functional quality that an avant-garde bathroom for design lovers can have, then go to Kartell by Laufen Flagship Store in Via Pontaccio, 10, Milano.

While you’re still in Milan you can also have a look at some of Kartell’s best products in their showroom at Via Pontaccio 10. In there you will also be able to see why this company, founded in Milan in 1949, has been a symbol of a progressive Italian design for almost 70 years.

Tom Dixon’s The Manzoni

The Manzoni is the new 100-cover restaurant by Tom Dixon that will consist of both a restaurant and a showroom. The restaurant is already opened in Milan city located at is located at Via Alessandro Manzoni, 5, 520121 Milano.

 

The restaurant and showroom is a collaboration between Dixon’s Design Research Studio and JLK Design Studio that is currently showing a couple of Dixon’s newest products, among them the Fat chair, and the lights Spring and Opal. If you go to this restaurant you can eat surrounded by the brand’s products and inspirations.

Illulian’s Showroom

We remind you that today there will be an upcoming event from Italian rug brand Illulian that, alongside Boca do LoboPorsche, and Moet & Chandon promises to gather more than one design aficionado in their showroom. You can attend the event at Via Alessandro Manzoni, 41, 20121 Milano MI.

 

Aside from currently being present at Salone del Mobile 2019, Illulian also has a special showcase currently happening in their showroom. In there you will be able to see a setting that includes some rug pieces made by the brand but also some exquisite and luxurious furniture pieces from both Boca do Lobo as well as from Porsche.

Bredaquaranta Showroom

“When Brera Meets Mid-Century”, the exclusive event at Bredaquaranta‘s showroom, also featuring the sister brands DelightFULL & Essential Home happened yesterday but you can still have a look at Via Fatebenefratelli, 10, 20121 Milano MI. 

You can also check out Bredaquaranta’s other showrooms at Bredaquaranta Sesto S. Giovanni (located at Via Ernesto Breda 40) and also Bredaquaranta Turati (via Filippo Turati, 2). Don’t miss them during Milan Design Week!

Galleria Rossana Orlandi

Galleria Rossana Orlandi has become one of the top spots to be in Milan right now! If you go to her showroom right now at Via Matteo Bandello, 14/16, Milan, you can check out the results of her latest challenge to young designers. We’re talking about the first edition of the contest Ro Plastic Prize in which she made a proposal to young designers to find a way around the problem of excessive plastic production and promote the next generation of design through new solutions made with plastic. You can see the finalists’ projects presented at her Gallery until the end of Milan Design Week 2019.

Dimore Studio

Probably one of the biggest highlights for Dimore Studio this year was the fact that they’ve launched their brand ‘Interstellar’, consisting of a new project that creates a new concept which blends into their usual and unique approach to residential, hospitality and retail projects. They’re over at the former Cinema Arti to showcase this new collection. The full address for this location is Ex Cinema Arti, Via Pietro Mascagni, 8, Milano.

At the same time, until the end of Milan Design Week, you can also check out the exhibition at their gallery, featuring a special edition of iconic pieces by Gabriella Crespi “made with materials never performed before”. Be sure to pass by DIMOREGALLERY, VIA SOLFERINO 11, Milano.

Missoni’s crochet house

For Milan Design Week 2019, specifically for Fuorisalone 2019, Missoni created a home made entirely out of crochet. The creation came from the mind and hands of Alessandra Roveda in a new showcase concept that has harmoniously combined fashion and design. You can see this lovely home for yourself at Viale Elvezia, 22. 20154 Milano MI, Italy.

Zaha Hadid at ME Milan Il Duca

Are you a fan of Zaha Hadid’s style? Then if you’re currently at Milan Design Week you can have a look at the special showcase being held at ME Milan Il Duca, the 5-star luxury hotel located in the heart of Milan. This exhibition presents numerous works, among them limited edition furniture, lamps, vases and accessories made from different types of materials which include glass, marble and ceramic, all with that unique Zaha Hadid style. You can see the showcase at ME Milan Il Duca Piazza della Repubblica, 13, Milano.
