IKEA and Tom Dixon have revealed the results of their collaboration: a modular bed that “explores notions of adaptability and future-proofing”. Set to launch during Milan design week 2017, Delaktig is a bed and sofa that can be modified into different styles of furniture throughout its lifetime.
For years, Milan Design Week provide us the best design events outside Salone del Mobile. Milan Design Week 2017 will be no exception! The Cinema Manzoni, closed since 2006, and the adjacent gallery , the gateway to Milan fashion district, they will return to shine in the days of Milan Furniture Fair (4-9 April 2017).
This was announced by the Top UK designer Tom Dixon will lead to Milan its exhibition format ‘ Multiplex – Yesterday Today Tomorrow ‘ to present the news in 2017 in his collection, but also some reissues of historical pieces and much talked about collaboration with IKEA that will see the light in 2018.
As Dixon previously told a press conference previewing the 56th edition of Milan’s Salone del Mobile, he sees the bed as an open-source “platform for living” that can be transformed through third-party add-ons.
IKEA and Dixon have now revealed they have been working with Swedish textile design company Bemz, which already specialises in covers for IKEA furniture, to manufacture accessories that will launch concurrently with the bed in 2018.
